Happy New Year!
I can’t believe two thirds of January has already passed. It seems as I grow older time passes faster than ever—is this just me?
Perhaps living through two years of a global pandemic and a series of social crises has also blurred days, months, and years.
No matter the cause, I’m looking to 2022 with a great deal of hope. Where is my hope founded? Certainly not on our political system or in humanity itself, no, my hope is rooted in the person of Jesus Christ and the enduring word of God (the Bible).
My husband and I have a number of adventures planned for this new year and whether these plans are postponed or altered I’m sure there will be adventure. As my husband always says, “Life is an adventure!”
So, look closely at the world around you and the people who fill your life and recognize the love of God in his good gifts to all of us—the sky, seashore, sunshine, stars, cool breezes, softly falling snow, a deep breath, birdsong, a warm embrace, an act of kindness from a stranger.
Life is an adventure and the Creator of all adventures is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)
