Jesus was able to entrust the successful outcome of his earthly mission into his Father’s hands, and did not fear stepping back from its demands for a while. In no sense was he driven by the fear of failure, the size of the task, the enormity of the responsibility, or the time constraints upon him. He was free to rest because he trusted in the Father’s presence, help and enabling…In his kingdom, we can walk with a relaxed calmness because he is in control…slowing down…will help us avoid the danger of forming our identity through what we do, and will relieve us of the burden of thinking that everything depends upon us.
