Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. John 11:25 NLT
My friend, Chistie Thomas, is a children’s book author and has a video channel on YouTube called The Bedtime Devo Mama. This week, she clearly explained how to teach the resurrection of Jesus Christ to children – in just seven minutes!
I can’t explain it better, so I’ll give her main points and the link – so you can listen yourself.
The resurrection matters because:
- it shows our sin is forgiven! (Jesus’ resurrection proves that we are forgiven.)
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. Romans 5:8-9 NLT
- it releases the grip of sin! (Jesus’ resurrection shows that we are dead to sin. We do not need to let it be the boss of us.)
And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Romans 6:8-11NLT
- it frees us from the fear of death! (Jesus’ resurrection proves that death is not the end of life.)
Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. Hebrews 2:14-15 NLT
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. Philippians 3:20-21 NLT
- it shows us our future! (Jesus’ resurrection shows us what to expect!)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 NLT
Happy Easter! Christ is Risen!
