In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God…through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. (John 1:1,3 NIV)
I spent an afternoon reviewing videos on my agent’s website this week. When I finished, my to do list was three pages long – work on platforms, grow email lists, distribute newsletters, check trends, identify what editors are looking for in my genre, and WRITE. I’m so overwhelmed, I don’t’ know where to begin.
Do you find yourself immobilized by all that is involved in getting your writing published?
This week, I did. But then, the Holy Spirit softly whispered to my heart – come to Me.As I drew near to the throne of God in prayer and through His word (the Bible), I remembered my purpose and motivation for writing – to glorify Him.
Just as God created the universe and all life with His words, He shares this creative process with us. Writers have the unique privilege and responsibility to communicate His glory with our words. According to Proverbs 16:3, when we commit our work to God, He establishes our plans.
So, I am committing my work to God, and will trust He will guide me as I prioritize my writing activities. I know from experience, God is faithful to His word. Now I must be faithful with my words.
Lord, thank you for placing Your Spirit within me and for guiding me back to Your word. Help me to be faithful with my words and my time. Today I commit my work to You. I pray You will use if for Your glory. Amen.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful, encouraging words, and always giving God the glory. He shines through you!
Thank you Barb. That is my goal.
