13 Days of Hebrews

Day 4

Hebrews 4: 9, 11-16 (NIV)

There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God…Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their (forefathers who followed Moses) example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper that any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest, who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, bu we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your word. Thank you for presence of the Holy Spirit who makes it come alive and speaks to our hearts and minds. Thank you for transforming the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts, for redeeming us. Thank you for living a life on earth and understanding us completely. Thank you for the confidence you have given us as we approach your throne of grace. Grant us mercy and grace in our time of need.

In Christ’s Name,

Amen
