Every year we celebrate Thanksgiving at our house with people from all over the world. International students, visiting colleagues, and missionaries have joined our family and friends in honor of this American holiday. The traditional turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie is often accompanied by foreign favorites like Greek spinach pie (Spanikopita), Brazilian salted codfish (Bacalhau), Asian curries, and Indian lentils (Daal). This year is no exception. In addition to our son and my mother, we will be hosting a couple from Germany and a student from Pakistan. I’m so grateful to God for opportunities to share our home and our love. He has truly blessed us.
I thank God for you today as well. You’ve allowed me to share my stories, my experiences, and the things God is teaching me. Thank you for reading. Thank you for your encouraging words.
Thanksgiving has become a day we thank the people in our lives. But in keeping with the original celebration, I give God the glory.
Praise the Lord!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
(Psalm 106:1 ESV)
Happy Thanksgiving!
